Rachel Ronning Perhaps it's silly, but one day we were at my grandma's farm miles and miles from anywhere and we found a cockatiel in a pine tree. None of the neighbors knew who it belonged to. I could work with that. :)
Rachel Ronning Thank you so much. I've written most of book 6 in my head but haven't put most of it on paper yet. I have days where I wonder if it's worth the time. Your question came on a day where I needed to hear those words of encouragement from someone who is not a family member. :) Thank you.
Rachel Ronning It was a dark and stormy night. In a flash of light I saw something that could only come out of a nightmare.
Rachel Ronning I'm torn. Either Rivendell to listen and learn everything I could. Or, Hogwarts to explore, learn, if I was teachable, and watch a Quiditch game.
Rachel Ronning I never make a reading list. I read what sounds good whenever I finish what I'm currently reading. Probably some Jasper Fforde because he makes me laugh out loud while I read. Also, some Agatha Christie. She's quick, fun reading and her books fit in my purse. Great for appointments and soccer practice. Might try a new fantasy series. Happy summer.
Rachel Ronning It is hard to choose an ultimate favorite. I think it depends on my mood. Today, I'll choose Thursday Next and Landan Parke Laine from Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series. They are strong individually and as a couple. Very supportive and loving but not to the point of making the reader want to vomit.
Rachel Ronning I certainly don't go around looking for ideas to put into books. My characters pop up and tell me what going on. I sit down to write and ideas pour out of me. I go for a walk and write in my thoughts. Sometimes, someone will say something and it will get worked in. I'll think, "That is something Eric would say." Or, I'll chat with someone and say, "Of course bumblebees fly by magic, it certainly isn't physics." I think I address that in book 3. :)
Rachel Ronning Right now, I have more ideas and inspiration than time to write. I don't 'get' inspired. I 'am' inspired. My characters simply do things and I record them. I write in my head even when it will be days before I'll be able to put it on a computer. I put myself to sleep by telling myself what happens next whatever book I'm working on.
Rachel Ronning I still feel like I am an aspiring writer. I'll try to answer this question again in a year or two. I've written a lot, but only published one book and in process of publishing the second while writing the third. My advice would be, if you love it, keep at it. Don't let rejections get you down. Find a way!
Rachel Ronning I love sharing the world I see in my head with other people. It's exciting when they love it too. One friend asked a question about a character. I told her to give me a bit. I had to ask Taran and get back to her. She laughed. I love writing. I hope others enjoy what I write.
Rachel Ronning I haven't had writer's block yet. I still have too much story. If I need to work some ideas out before I write them, I take the dog for a walk. By the time, I'm back, I've usually got another 20 pages or so in in order in my head. As of yet, I have more ideas than time to write. :)
Rachel Ronning I'm in the production phase of the sequel Sorcery, Schemes, and Skelt. I'm hoping it will be available by Christmas 2014. While the publishers work on that, I've started the third book in the Kinowenn series, yet to be titled.
