Thomas, yes it is a bit confusing. In 2019 I decided to rebrand the series, due to Within looking too much like a horror novel. While recovering and re-editing the first book in the series as The Winter of Swords, I re-released Before the Crow and A March of Woe with the new branding to keep the series consistent.

Hey, Ted. Within was re-released as The Winter of Swords in 2019. It is the same story, only recovered, edited, and proofed.

I get wrapped up in the story and want to see where it goes, but more so how the characters deal with conflict. I like to keep storylines loose, so in essence, I get to be the first reader. It sounds a bit corny, but it is what keeps me coming back to the keyboard.

I would love to send you an ARC of book 2 - Before the Crow. That is due out early next year! I would also love your thoughts on the first book as well.

I force myself to write. Sometimes it just comes slowly, in words, or maybe even paragraphs, compared to the pages and chapters when you're on a roll. If I have really been pushing it hard, sometimes I just take a break, even if only for a day. I'll grab a movie, or just hang out with the family, and usually, the dam breaks open all on its own.

There is a profound sense of accomplishment in sharing a story. Creativity is like a wild animal, so once you let it out of the cage, it can really run amuck. I really love the random moments of inspiration. They can strike at any time, with almost no warning. It is like nothing else I have experienced before!

Put on some blinders. The monster that is the publishing industry can be so daunting, that it almost makes you give up before you even begin. Put on some blinders and just write. Satisfy your need to be creative, and tell your story. Worry about everything else once you're finished.

I have several stories mapped out and started, but I was so drawn in with the story for Within that I had to get started working on the sequel, Before the Crow, right away. In fact, I have at least 4 books worth of story planned out, so my other fiction works will probably be on the shelf for a while.

I am inspired by music. Setting is really important for me, so first and foremost, I use music. Originally, it was a song that inspired me to first start writing Within, so it only made sense moving forward.
