It depends on how bad or where in the process I am.
Sometimes just a day or two of break will fix it.
Other times some long soul searching walks.
Still others, I force myself to write, even if it's not writing in the project i'm blocked about. Write something, anything. A blog, start a new story, write a letter to a friend. Just write.
Eventually, the block will clear.

The freedom.
Freedom to be who you are, to say what you want to say. Sure, we all hope someone will read our words, but ultimately you should write for you and being a writer gives you the freedom to do that.
Of course, once you put it out there there will be critics and people with suggestions, but ultimately you are the writer, these are your words, your ideas, your voice.... let you be you, it's a wonderful feeling.

It seems everyone has advice and often it's somewhat conflicting and typically rule based. We are all human beings and in being so we are all unique. What works for one person may or may not work for you.
All I can tell you is start.
Don't worry about how, or whether you're doing it "right" or not, whether or now you're following some prescribed 'way' of writing, just write. There's nothing wrong with learning how other writers do it and seeing if that works for you, nothing at all. In fact, do research, try all sorts of different ways, but the bottom line is start writing. It doesn't matter how, where, when, or what with, but just start getting your ideas out of your head.
After that, it's just a matter of figuring out what 'style' fits you best.

I have a couple of projects going. One is a business management book, another is a story based on the principles in ASK, and another is a Fictional story that is completely different. (Yes, a non-fiction author braving the fiction world. Don't we all have a story we want to tell somewhere inside of us? Maybe even more than one?)

Usually it is something I'm passionate about although I have inspirations all the time. Often, it is frustratingly when I'm driving or on a walk and not near something to write with. :-)

I've been working on this idea for quite some time. It all came together in 2011 when I applied for and was accepted to speak at a TEDx event at which point I had to start putting the ideas into some sort of cohesive order.
Mostly the idea sprung from my own need to understand why some people are successful and others are not when they have access to the same information and have the same background/opportunity etc.
