I realized that I knew more about the television on my wall than about the food that I put into my mouth. In other words -- than about the stuff that actually becomes 'me.'
So I started asking questions. I began with beef, since it's so emblematic of the American diet. But a cow is an awfully large thread to pull on; and it unraveled more about my life and how we eat than I ever would have expected.

I don't believe in it. I get words on the page no matter what, with the knowledge that I'll later cut anything I don't like. The delete key is a powerful thing.
