Deborah A. Levine On the top of my pile right now are "Homegoing" by Yaa Gyasi and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's "Half of a Yellow Sun." I'm currently reading the middle grade novel "Anything But Typical" by Nora Raleigh Baskin with my 11-year-old son, and Jason Reynolds' "As Brave as You" is on deck. Now I just need to find (or make) the time to read them!
Deborah A. Levine The best thing about being a writer is being able to create characters I've never met and situations I've never been in. While I'm writing, I get to "live" in my characters' worlds for a little while, and sometimes that's much more interesting than my own day to day life. When I'm finished a book, I find myself really missing my characters--they're like old friends and I'm sad to say goodbye. Luckily, The Saturday Cooking Club is a series, so I won't have to miss them for very long!
