W.P. Armstrong I'm working on sequels to "Gulf War Ghosts" that will feature the main character, Walt Ransom.
W.P. Armstrong Long walks and fresh air help me break through writer's block and sort out a story's structure. Just talking with friends often gives me ideas for character development. There are so many people from daily life who would make interesting characters, major or minor, in a story.
W.P. Armstrong I served in combat with the U.S. Army's 3rd Armored Division in Southern Iraq during the first Gulf War (1990-1991). After the war, I read the history of that region and the many different battles fought for the same turf prior to Operation Desert Storm. Tying in a spectral enemy from WWII was a fun experiment in sci-fi and horror writing. Putting those thoughts on paper also churned up a mishmash of real memories from my combat experience, including the incredible devastation, the smell of burning oil fields, popular music from that time period, and working through cultural differences with the local population.
