Joey Ellis It always helps to have a variety of projects going on... big and small. Treat yourself to some smaller, low-hanging-fruit projects while tackling that big "change the world" style project and I think you'll find that you rarely have writer's block. Self-doubt?? Now... THAT is a different story! ;-)
Joey Ellis I wouldn't call myself a writer. While I do write, I feel like I have SO MUCH to learn about creating stories that I don't think I will ever be comfortable in being called a writer. That being said, getting whatever is in your imagination down on paper and seeing it take a life of its own is the best part about writing.
Joey Ellis Write what you want to write, don't get so hung up on pleasing anyone else, and finish what you start.... even if it's not perfect. The creative journey is what is most rewarding, so just know that your NEXT project will be even better!
Joey Ellis Several new graphic novel pitches! My fingers are crossed and I hope you'll wish me luck!
Joey Ellis I often find inspiration from reading others books, watching television or just thinking about combining two existing ideas into one! I often write in chunks, meaning, I don't really start with a beginning or have a specific end in mind... it's more of a "here's a gag or a scenario" style of writing.
Joey Ellis Ever since I was young, I loved Sesame Street. I often wondered if you could zoom out and see the larger city, what other characters would you meet... and so Wolfie Monster and his brothers/friends are based on that idea!
