Write, write, and just keep on writing! Read, read, read and don't stick to one genre, be diverse.
I once read from another author 'write drunk, edit sober'. That is one of the best pieces of advice I've read, but do you know what? Treat it metaphorically and you'll get the true meaning of that quote.
Mistakes will be made down the line, but you learn from them, and it only helps tp improve your writing. Be prepared to be critizised; it is a chance to later on prove them wrong and have the final laugh. But more improtantly, keep writing.

Where possible I go for a walk, anywhere, just walk; not in a Forrest Gump way, but so as to clear my head. In addition, I free myself of any kind of distracting gadgets - mainly mobile phones.
