Josh Mathe I knew going in to my John Muir Trail adventure that I wanted to write about it afterward. It ended up being an amazing experience because writing the book allowed me to really explore and integrate everything in a way that added to the richness. Writing In the Footsteps of Greatness was so fun and rewarding that actually selling it is simply icing on the cake.
Josh Mathe I just write about what moves me. A friend and publisher told me awhile ago not to worry about niches, marketing, subject matter, etc. "Just write what is trying to burst out of you and the rest will take care of itself." Good advice.
Josh Mathe That's a hard question for me because I have so many things I'm passionate about. A few of the projects I'm working on are:

1) A book about inspiring people over the age of 60 who have turned their lives around and found health and vitality later in life.
2) A book about how to be both paleo and vegetarian at the same time
3) A book about how to forge mental toughness

I have a couple other adventures planned that I will eventually write about, but I have to live the stories first!
Josh Mathe Just start writing. Schedule time for it in your calendar and respect that time just like it's a job or date night. The writing isn't the hard part - having the discipline to choose it over other priorities is. Many people say they are going to write a book. Choose to be one of the few that actually does.
Josh Mathe The expression. I notice things and feel compelled to talk about them all day long - the most thorough and satisfying way for me to do this is to put them into words.
Josh Mathe I've never really had writer's block because I only sit down to write when I feel ready. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the flow, but I don't stress about it. Usually I write in coffee shops so I'll people watch, enjoy my coffee, and then eventually start writing. When I'm feeling ready to do something else, I stop.
