The current manuscript I'm working on was inspired when I saw a homeless man in our local village. Most people ignored him but he looked to me like a man not used to being ignored. A man who had a position in life and I wondered how he'd ended up where he was. I didn't get a chance to speak to him but the seed was planted.

I get ideas all the time and I'll make a note of them as I do, otherwise I'll forget them. I'm always thinking 'what if'? It can be either when I'm talking to people, hearing/reading a news story or when I'm walking about. I've got a file full of 'Novel ideas' and another of 'short story ideas'. I want to tell the stories and discover how they turn out. I always feel better when I'm writing.

I'm working on several projects. I'm editing the third book in my Mason & Sterling series whilst working on the first draft of the fourth. I'm also working on another project, a standalone about a homeless man.

This is an easy one. When a reader lets you know how much they enjoyed your work and it's clear they 'get it'.

"Writers block" can have different causes. It can mean I'm not into either the characters or the story in which case one or other needs to change. Some story-lines just don't have the steam to get to the finish line - what started as a great idea might fizzle out - so you need to cut your losses and work on something else. Other times I'm not sure where to go next so I'll leave that story and work on something else. I felt stuck on my previous WIP but realised there was nothing wrong with it, I just wanted to work on another story more. I'd been thinking about it for a few months, so I left the first one and am cracking on with the new one.
