Matthew O. Duncan Eisenheim and Sophie from the The Illusionist, a 2006 film based on the story by Steven Millhauser. A classic love story of two people who fall in love in spite of social standards and class. It is one of the best written movies of its time.
Matthew O. Duncan Hi Vanayssa

Most of the awards I've won for writing have been for plays, with a few for short stories. The plays that won top honors and that were produced are Saying Good-bye (Production APW 1991); Tears of a Clown (Production APW 1992) and What Are You Looking At? (APW award 1993, Produced ASU 1994).
As a novelist I have not earned any awards as of yet, but I also haven't submitted to any contest either. I'm still collecting feedback from readers about my work, as I believe I can still improve greatly as a writer. So far I have been getting a lot of positive comments from those who have read my work. So maybe I'll start putting myself out to contest with my next work due out later this year.
Thanks for the question.
Matthew O. Duncan Finish a complete draft before you show your work to someone. Everyone loves to help with the creative parts, but then it becomes a collaboration and not your work. Get your entire idea on paper, then asked for feed back.
Matthew O. Duncan It depends on where I’m blocked. If it’s in the beginning , (The Blank Page!) I just start something, either a conversation between two characters, the entrance to a place or a description of a situation. Something that is not necessarily key to the overall story, but also not out of place. I do that just to get started, knowing that it will be okay to get rid of it, if it’s no good. It takes some of the pressure off and lets my mind just be creative. Sometimes it’s enough to get the motor started and sometimes its crap and never sees the light of day, but it almost always leads to something that I keep.
Matthew O. Duncan I'm working on the third book in the Lt. Reilly series. I plan to have it out before the end of this year, 2020.
Matthew O. Duncan Originally I had planned to write The Warrior’s Stone as a screenplay, but the idea was not fleshed out enough to outline, so I decided to write it as a short story first. What I discovered while writing were characters that I fell in love with and a story that needed the full scope of a novel. I was so thrilled with how it came out that I’ve been inspired to continue creating stories within the same universe.
