Read, read, and read some more. There is nothing that inspires and educates me more as a writer than reading the great works of other authors. I am a self-diagnosed reading addict. My reading tastes are all over the place. Fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, mystery/suspense, young adult, etc. I will read just about anything.

Losing myself in a story. I absolutely love to read, and writing is basically like "virtual reality" for a reading addict. I feel like I'm living the story with the characters.

I stop writing. That may seem like a cliche answer, but sometimes the best solution is to simply walk away. I usually try to do some reading in a similar genre that I am writing in. If for whatever reason I can't seem to get it going again, I file the story away and return to it when inspiration strikes.

At the risk of sounding quite crazy, my inspiration for The Question of Christmas came in the form of an incredibly vivid dream. Nearly the entire plot was laid out in such detail that I can remember it weeks later.
