Daniel Wentzel At some point in the summer, my wife and I will go to a book store and pick up some books we'll want to read. I don't really know what those books will be until we're there. There will be some cozy mysteries, probably a few young adult/middle grades, and maybe a science fiction/fantasy or two.

In olden days, painters learned to paint by copying the masters. You can't learn by plagiarism, but you can watch how stories are structured. Watch with a writer's eye to see what's behind the curtain.
Daniel Wentzel Writer's block in the traditional sense (staring at a blank screen or page with no idea how to start) isn't an issue for me. Far more frequent is getting stuck not sure how to get from the point where I am now to where I know the story is heading.
And to deal with that, I either work on a different project or drink far too much coffee until I can think of something to move the story where I want it to be.
