Justin Forest It's all about passion. I had to write what I did. I just had to, though I know what a long and difficult road is ahead of me. I think artists understand this. This is not about making money. Honestly, where is the money in this? I'm spending over $20,000 on Lolita in the Lion's Den. It's about creating something for the greater good. If I can make a living writing that would be a dream come true, but that's not why I write. Most people will mock a writer, especially those like me that write about the dark world, but if one out of a thousand tells me, "Hey, this was great," I am very happy. Maybe if I can make enough to cover my costs so that I can write another book. Some fans? Great!
Justin Forest We don't talk about sexuality and kids, and I knew it would be a struggle to put out a book on a boy that struggles with his attraction to women and girls. That's a no, no. But there are many people like this in our society that don't hurt people. He has other "triggers" as well. I see a real need for us to study the whole issue of what sexuality is. It's not just one thing or good verses bad. It's about acceptance and management. Though this book looks at what some consider the "offender's" point of view (I disagree because we don't fully know what an offender is), we cannot protect kids if we don't understand the issues that face everyone involved.

It's a disturbing book, but it will change those that read it; it will change those that don't judge too quickly. In the end, the main character Glen is a decent guy who has to manage a whole load of crap. Don't we all?
Justin Forest I am promoting my current book. It is good to work on other things, but these days promotion and getting a book out there, whether traditional or Indy, takes a lot of ground work. I am a blogger for the Huffington Post, so I post weekly blogs there.
Justin Forest Stick to it but be modest. Absolutely hire a good editor for developmental and other editing. No matter how good you are, you just won't see things like others can. I have a PhD in English but cannot edit my own work well. I think editing is a gift some people have.
