Alex Erickson Always! There's definitely more Bookstore Cafe coming out. After that . . . There'll be something, but am in limbo on that at the moment.

I have been reading all of your Bookstore Cafe Mysteries and do you make up the coffee's or have you actually drank any of the coffees that you put in the book? It is a fun series and Krissy does seem to get caught in the middle of things each time. I am glad that you enjoy writing them as much as we (the readers) read the series.

Alex Erickson The coffee drinks are real, though I haven't tried them all. I can't stomach pumpkin anything, for example, so no pumpkin spice for me! The same goes for eggnog. And I've never used a cookie as sweetener. Otherwise, I've probably tried the rest at one time or another, though I tend to stick to hazelnut for my daily fix.

When can we expect the next Furever Pet Mystery?

Alex Erickson Hopefully, if all goes to plan, mid 2020. Then the next in 2021, and so on. That's the hope anyway!

Hi. This is the first time I ever asked a question to any mystery writter. But I wanted to know how long are you going to write the Bookstore Cafe? And are you going to write any other series?

Alex Erickson Hi! I plan on keeping with the Bookstore Cafe mysteries for as long as I can keep the stories from getting stale. I don't want to keep going for the sake of it, not if the books suffer from it. That could be a long time from now!

The short answer to question 2 is YES. The long answer will have to wait for now.

Hi Alex. I was wondering what got you into writing mysteries. Were you a big mystery reader and decided to write one or was there some influence from other aspects of your life. Also, your POV character was female. Did you find that difficult and what steps did you take to get into a woman's mind so you could write Krissy?

Alex Erickson Hi Jane! The easy answer would be that I got into writing mysteries because I was asked to. Cozies were new to me, but I had read a lot of the more . . . thriller-like mysteries? Once I was committed, the idea popped into my head with varying levels of success in making it a reality. I didn't really find it too hard to write in the female POV, and I'm sure I made a misstep or ten throughout, but think I did a pretty good job. I don't think like ME when I write. It feels more like the character is speaking in my head and my job is to transcribe it accurately, which doesn't always work. Hopefully, I will get even better as the series goes along!
