My favorite couple, Captain Sam Wyllie and Catherine Adams, are the main characters in my second novel NEW FRONTIER OF LOVE. The Revolutionary War and a tragic loss left this brave buckskin-clad warrior battle-hardened. I love how his courageous heart defies danger and how he is determined to make a fresh start in the far west, the new state of Kentucky. Newly widowed, Catherine Adams knows she should return to her wealthy father in Boston but fears he will once again force her to marry for prestige and wealth, not love. I admire the fact that she is willing to shun wealth and society in favor of true love. Drawn to Sam’s keen intelligence, harsh masculinity, and rugged warrior facade, she decides the west holds a chance for real love. She resolves to help Sam lay down his cold heart’s armor. Despite the undeniable attraction between them, Sam refuses to risk his heart again. But Catherine won’t give up on him. She believes Sam could be as passionate about love as he is about his country and family.

Yes, FRONTIER HIGHLANDER VOW OF LOVE is the fourth book in my American Wilderness Series. It starts with WILDERNESS TRAIL OF LOVE. The books can each be read independently, however, as you said, it is best to start at the beginning. Each book is about a different brother. The first book is all about the brothers' arduous thousand-mile journey to Kentucky on the Wilderness Road. It focuses on the youngest brother Stephen and his wife Jane, but all the other brothers play significant roles in this story so you get to know them well. Book Two is NEW FRONTIER OF LOVE, the story of Captain Sam and Catherine. Book Three is WHISPERING HILLS OF LOVE, and the hero is William, a sheriff and the heroine is Kelly. And Book Four, FRONTIER HIGHLANDER, is about their adopted brother Bear and Artis. It begins in Scotland, but quickly shifts to the American colonies.
All of my books are realistic depictions of life in the late 18th century, which was often difficult. But they all have a happily ever after ending.

So far, this has never been a problem for me. I love to write and every moment I have to actually sit down and write is precious to me. My favorite trick is to create characters that I feel I really know--as well as a good friend--then put them in a room or situation and ask myself what would they do or say here? They always answer the question for me and I just write it down.

This is a tough question because it will vary for each writer. My best advice would be to learn as much as you can about writing before you even begin writing a novel. Things like staying in character point of view, active voice, showing not telling, etc. Then, I would allow at least a year to write the book and edit it again and again, and then edit it a couple times more. Get feedback from others. Every time you edit, it gets better. If you can afford to do so, get a professional editor. Then allow about a year for creating a marketing plan, social media following, etc. And if you self-publish, that takes time as well. There's a lot to do to get a book ready to market. You want it to shine when it does come out and that takes lots of time.

I am currently working on the Book Three in my American Wilderness Series Romances. It will be titled "Whispering Hills of Love." It's the story of William and Kelly, two secondary characters from the first book.
