Robert Muir Like many people, I have lost touch with old acquaintances, including some who were once close friends or lovers. The discovery that one or more have genuinely (eg. mysteriously) disappeared might result in a quest to discover their whereabouts and/or fate. However, care should be taken to ensure that the story is original and not one of those typical - successful author returns to his/her hometown which they haven't been to in 'X' number of years, only to find blah, blah, blah...... Too many of those books are pumped out on a regular basis already.
Robert Muir I've written a short story called 'Two Mugs and a Bottle' that hopefully will be considered comically amusing - if I can find somewhere that will pay to print it. I've also started working on a few interesting characters in hopes of developing them into another story of unknown length.
Robert Muir Write! It sounds obvious, but I began a novel decades before I actually finished it, only to 'shelve it' after about 35 pages because I thought I hadn't lived enough to do a good job. I might have produced far more if I'd stayed the course.
Robert Muir It's usually easiest to take a break - even if it lasts days - until my subconscious or my muse suggests something. Then if I can, I write down immediately because sometimes ideas vanish as quickly as they appear.
