Right now my summer reading list is the Wheel of Time, from the beginning. I'm studying how the series is written.

I work on something else. Plain and simple. If the characters for one story aren't talking to me usually it's because those from another story are being too loud and I need to shut them up by putting some time on their story.

The sequel to Hero Unit. I also have two or three High Fantasy books in the works.

Mostly I read books that are in the same vein as what I'm working on. For Hero Unit that was a broad selection. Everything from comic books to Tom Clancy's Patriot Games.

The idea for Hero Unit came from reading a Spiderman comic when I was about 12 or 13. Spiderman was young and he thought if he could go to the police and be "deputized" then people would lay off him a bit. It didn't work out for him, but ever since then I'd wondered what would it be like if there was a world where the super heroes worked as the police.
