If we're talking newest and freshest in the writing stage we're talking about Beauty and the Beast, which has been my favorite fairy tale since high school. Disney was obviously my first exposure to it. But the inspiration comes from my love of the fantastical, and some of my personal struggles. Of all the characters I have written in the Evermagic series, this Beauty is the one I most identify with. The inspiration for her comes from my hopes and insecurities, and the beauty of absolute fairy tale love.

I get inspired by everything. Other stories, people I meet, life experience. The ideas are ever flowing and never stop.

Never give up, and study your craft. Read the how to books, take the creative writing courses, find people who are willing read your work and give you their honest opinion. Critiques are not to be hated. They are a way of improving. I still get anxiety over critiques, but every time I get one I know that I have learned something and can improve. Never be scared to learn. No matter how successful you are, there is always room to grow.

Getting to share a story that I hope touches and inspires people. I love creating characters and stories that people can come to love or hate and feel for. By telling stories I get to help people feel something, and I always hope they come out the better for it.

Right now I'm working on my Snow White, Hansel and Grettle, and Beauty and the Beast. The first two are in the editing process, and I am a quarter of the way done with Beauty and the Beast.

I find the best thing for me to do is put on some score music, sit back in my chair, close my eyes, and punch out an outline. By knowing where I'm going I can fill in the inbetweens much more easily. I also find that sitting out in nature, taking baths, or closing my eyes on the couch clears my mind enough that it often brings ideas and images to my mind.
