April Love-Fordham I was planning a lecture series on Galatians, written by the Apostle Paul, when my husband and I hiked the Camino di Assisi. As we journeyed into the life and legends of St. Francis, a playful old school Franciscan monk befriended us. Together the three of us began naming the parallels and divergences in the lives of St. Francis and the Apostle Paul. In doing so, we discovered an entirely new—but ancient—way of living the Christian life. The book just flowed from that.
April Love-Fordham I wrote a commentary on the Epistle of James just because I liked the book, but when I got done, it just seemed boring. So I decided to wrap a story around it that explained the epistle. Today the story and commentary are weaved together. It reads much like a novel, but has a great deal of scholarly research.
April Love-Fordham For me, writer's block is caused by lack of stimulation. So I do something to give me new experiences - something to take me out of my comfort zone like taking a bus ride into a part of town that I wouldn't normally go. Or going to a concert with music and people I wouldn't normally hang out with. Works every time!
