When I'm initially hit with writers block I simply just walk away from what I am working on and watch a movie, clean, garden listen to music. Music is a great block remover for me. If it persists I have found that reading a good boom can help sometimes. Its as if reading anothers words and stories clicks something in my own brain that once again allows my own creative juices to flow.

The idea for The Orchid Keeper came from several wells. I live orchids and I love fantasy. The idea to mix both problem that exist in reality with a fantasy setting was spontaneous. As I began the book it just simply morphed into what it is.
