Mollie Lyon I alternate between local authors and national authors. I finished the first of a trilogy by Arlon Stubbe, Whitepaper Falls. The ending definitely twisted the direction I thought. Now, I have to read the other two.
I just started Frank Delaney's The Last Story Teller, another novel of Ireland. In the Bible, I read the book of Acts every summer. The energy of the beginnings of the Church fuels summer for me. I start it on Pentecost.
My local book store has a $5.99 table of many varieties of novels and I'll probably pick one up about a beach summer, when I buy the second of Arlon's novels.
Mollie Lyon The year 2016 has intrigued me with my personal experiences playing against the national and world news. I am actually working on pulling it all together and bring a story about. I have the extreme heat, the old school building where I worked and the personalities and who stabbed me in the back the worst? Watch for this in years to come.
Mollie Lyon The sequel idea for Outside of Time came to me on a walk around Lake Scranton. Now, I have to get the story back to Lake Scranton. I don't visit there often, but every time I go there, the sense of the story crawls over me. In the sequel, I'm half a year away from where the main character has an adventure in the Poconos. We will get there.
Mollie Lyon There are various ways. Last Free Exit was written around two dreams I had. I worked on stories and then let it sit on the back burner for almost a year. I joked it was a hot mess and my problem child.
When I started the publishing writing journey, I worked home health. I drove long distances over flat land. My imagination soared over the car as I watched the old countryside. I look forward to the traveling again.
I read a lot. All sources give me grains to form a pearl of a story.
Mollie Lyon I am writing the sequel of Outside of Time. I would like to venture more into short stories. I believe Ray Bradbury suggested one a week. I see this happening as I come back into the light that had been blocked last year.
Mollie Lyon The best thing for me is the crafting of my words. I also love how the story works before I write it. A new trend related to my story right after I have written a scene keeps me excited.
Mollie Lyon Sit down and write. Learn to be comfortable declaring, "I'm a writer," not, "I want to be a writer." As the Nike commercial says, "Just do it."
Mollie Lyon This past year(2015-2016, September to December) produced a lot of writer's block because of physical tiredness after surgery and a stressful job. I didn't deal well with it. I wrote when I could, but felt helpless to not just sit and write. I scrolled through Facebook almost every night and found a zone. But it was not a writing zone. I needed rest. Being pushed into an imposed rest, right before Christmas, still took over a month to recover. A new job frees my soul. Daily, a walk helps, clear my mind. Today, I realized getting out with my patients stimulates my stories. I'm looking forward to 2017 being a productive year.
Mollie Lyon I have to admit my couple in Last Free Exit are my favorite. Iggy and Morgan.
