Kathy Parish Colorado's Choice is the second in the Four Corners trilogy. Colorado's character in the first book, Freely Given, was very appealing to me, and I could relate to Charlotte's character, too. It seemed natural that a possible romance should develop between them.
Kathy Parish I really believe that God has given me the calling to write, but I am still growing in my understanding of that calling. Early on I thought that my goal was just to write entertaining romances, but as I grew in faith I found that I really wanted to speak to something deeper in the reading audience. The story ideas just take root in my mind and grow into a completed story (that sometimes surprises even me)!
Kathy Parish The details of getting Colorado's Choice published through Create Space is occupying a portion of my time. I also have a new work-in-progress that I have just started that is not a part of the Four Corners trilogy.
Kathy Parish I am very new at this, and so I'm not sure that I am the best adviser. However, I would say--JUST WRITE! It may be a journal (I prayer journal) or a blog or just starting a story. Attending the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) conference has been central to learning more about the craft of writing as well as a great worship experience. I am encouraged and inspired when I attend.
Kathy Parish The characters and setting become very real and personal in my head, and it is exciting to see how the stories develop. I don't always know the twists and turns that a story will take until it is finished!
Kathy Parish When I have writer's block I find that taking a break and letting the story rest in my mind for a while helps. I may clean house or cook. Sometimes the story develops in my thoughts over several days (even while I am at work) until I have time to write again. Prayer helps, too. I really believe that I should be writing with God, and that He directs.
