K.M. Updike Before you kill me for saying that I don't really truly believe in Writer's Block, I will say that reading has helped cure me of Writer's Block more than ever in the last year. I read at night, usually after my writing is done for the day. So when do I get flooded with inspiration? When my computer is off and I can't get to my story files!
K.M. Updike Being able to write about anything I want. Being able to go places I would never be able to go otherwise. Getting to be different people and seeing the world through the eyes of different people. The world is not short on magic.
K.M. Updike Never stop writing. Write about everything. Never stop reading. Read about everything. Never stop watching. Watch everything, everyone. Never stop listening. Listen to everything, everyone. Never stop feeling. Feel everything. Gather experiences. Nothing is worse than not knowing about something when you're writing. But we have imaginations that do make up for that. ;)
K.M. Updike I'm just finishing up my NaNoWriMo novel, The Atlantis Game, my first attempt at historical fantasy. And I just finished editing my Great Depression era novel, Like n' Me.
K.M. Updike There is inspiration simply everywhere. You must keep your eyes wide open. But these days most of my inspiration comes when I'm reading a really good book. Reading gets the cogs and gears turning and I get to thinking about what I'm writing and inspiration is not far off!
K.M. Updike For The Atlantis Game, it was a dream. I dreamed about these people who lived on the edge of a lake in houses connected by bridges. There was something not quite right between this girl and her father. I was so intrigued when I woke up I had to figure out the rest of the story!
