Merry Freer I have some ideas, but the thought of writing fiction is daunting. The memoir wrote itself. I already knew the characters, the plot and the ending.
Merry Freer "Doctor, Doctor" is my debut book. As it is a memoir, I found it to be profoundly cathartic.
Merry Freer Get your story out first, before worrying about refining. My nephew, who is a writer, calls it "writing by projectile vomiting". If you constantly stop to make corrections, you miss the opportunity of getting the bigger ideas on paper while they are still fresh. Also, I carry a notebook with me always! You never know when an interesting idea will come to you.
Merry Freer I was inspired to write "Doctor, Doctor" for posterity. I wanted to tell my story as accurately as humanly possible so that my granddaughter, when she is old enough to understand the subject matter, can read it. There are many lessons for her. Also, she will know that her Grammy had an interesting life and wasn't always in the kitchen baking cookies!
Merry Freer "Doctor, Doctor" (subtitled "A True Story of Obsession, Addiction and Psychological Manipulation", is a memoir. It is also somewhat of a thriller. My ideas came from a real life experience.
