What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Gillian Henriques I am doing what I love, what I am totally passionate about. I am using my gift to impact the world.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Gillian Henriques Write.lol! Sometimes we procrastinate a lot and say we want to do something, and then we wait for the conditions to be favorable. Don't wait just get to writing. It's not an easy road, but it is definitely enjoyable. You have to enjoy your work first before you can expect others to. When I write I get totally lost in the story. I laugh, I cry, I identify with the characters and I enjoy them. If I am not writing a fiction eg. If I am writing a devotional or writing on a specific topic, then I speak to my readers. I speak to them like I would want someone to speak to me. I counsel, I advise, I have compassion for, I understand, I encourage, I motivate, I love and I am honest about my feelings.

The next advise I will give you is to never give up. Sometimes getting your work out there for people to see it is not easy, but keep at it and never give up on your dreams.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Gillian Henriques I wait it out.lol! My inspiration comes from God. He uses different methods to give me inspiration but definitely I am inspired to write what He tells me. I often say for me a writers block means a disconnection from God. Whenever I get too busy, even if what I am doing is God's work, and my focus is not totally on Him, I usually get a writers block. In those times I know it is time to separate myself, pray some more, get closer to God and wait on Him for inspiration to flow from Him through me.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Gillian Henriques The story just came from out of the blue into my mind. I think it's because I have been looking at the evils of drugs and human trafficking in recent times. The story speaks a lot to that. A lot of times a story just forms in my head. It is hard to tell how it happens.
