Everything inspires me in some way. That's why I keep the smartphone and journal.
Long business trips inspire me. Quotes inspire me. People inspire me. Difficult situations inspire me. Close friends inspire me.

My 3rd book. I write a column for the Project Post Gazette, and 10K subscriber newsletter. I blog. I'm preparing for a book tour of Consult in Jeans and conducting interviews (heavily marketing). I've completed my 2nd book, which will go out for bid this fall. I just completed my first eBook (The Leadership Jumpstart Plan), appearing on my redesigned website soon. I'm submitting articles for major business magazines as well. In the meantime, I consult and train. I love business and writing.

Write. And write some more. And then some more.
Blogs are wonderful tools these days. Commit to an hour+/day of writing. That's how I finished my first (and 2nd) books. Set the alarm clock 1:15 earlier than you normally would:
- take 10m for coffee making and muffin-getting
- take 5m for making your way to the office
- take 60m for writing
Use this formula 4-5x per week, and you'll be astonished at how soon you have 200 pages.
Also: YOU'RE THE WRITER, NOT THE EDITOR. HIRE AN EDITOR.

Take the time out you need. Do something fun. Do something more fun than fun. Then get back to writing. Keep a journal, or a smart phone with Evernote and Voice Recorder! Jot your thoughts, even the miniature ones. They all add up.
