Well, my first book 'Buyout' was closely informed by my own real-life experience. The sequel, 'Payback' also contains a great deal which was inspired by my own experience, but also goes beyond that experience, including, for example, people who are prepared to commit murder to achieve their objectives - I have encountered some pretty unsavoury characters in my business career , but I must admit that none of them have actually gone that far!
My third book, 'Chinese Whispers', just seems to be a natural extension from the first two. This one goes way beyond my real-life experience and moves more into mainstream thriller territory.

I never set out to be a writer. I had a long career in manufacturing industry, much of it at boardroom level, culminating in my participation in a management buyout of the company I worked for. The buyout was such an unbelievably tense and convoluted process that I was inspired to write my first book, 'Buyout' - a fictional tale of a group of friends who tried to do just what I had done and buy the company they worked for in the face of corporate politics and personal vendettas.
Whilst writing 'Buyout' I discovered that writing is something I love, so it wasn't too long before I wrote a sequel, 'Payback'.
I couldn't stop there so my third book in the series, 'Chinese Whispers' will be released soon.

I'm currently working on my third book in the 'Roy Groves Thrillers' series. It's called 'Chinese Whispers'. The first draft is complete but I'm seeking some independent assessment by a literary consultant to see help me decide whether the manuscript needs some polishing before I publish.

Don't give up! Trying to get an agent and a publisher can be utterly soul-destroying. For every book published by a mainstream publisher there are hundreds, possibly even thousands of manuscripts rejected. That doesn't mean they are all bad - just that the agents and publishers can't see a sure-fire money maker (and unless you are already a well-known author this is usually true!)
So ... if they all keep rejecting you, go ahead and self-publish. You might just prove them all wrong!
