I don't have a specific list, but I have started reading the Pathfinder Tales novels, which are based on the Pathfinder game. I also plan to read more m/m romances.

That is a hard one. I have many favorites. If I had to pick one, I would say Seregil and Alec from the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling. I love how their relationship was handled. They were both male, but it was treated as any other couple: as -part- of the story. I was so happy to find them in mainstream fsntasy. They go through trials, but always got through them together.

Writer's block is my enemy. I deal with it frequently, and I don't have a foolproof way of getting past it. If you're having trouble with a scene, skip it and go to another until you have worked out the details, then go back to it.

My advice is go for it, but be prepared. It is not an easy road, and I found that the writing part of the journey is the easiest.

I was in a writer's workshop class in high school, and had started reading Forgotten Realms books, which is D&D setting (I'm a bit of a nerd). The world was very rich and exciting, and it was inspirational. At the time, I was working on another book, and so Rising Star was kind of a "on the side" project, and indeed, I set it aside for several years.
My other book ended up not panning out, so I turned back to Rising Star. When I picked it up again, I changed most of what I had written previously.
