I'm currently working on three novels in three stages. I'm using Wattpad to publish a new chapter each week of my second romantic comedy novel, Fashioning Romance. It features very modern characters and is set in Los Angeles - much steamier than Lasting Impressions.
I'm also in the first draft stages of the first of a trilogy of campy horror books that features a love triangle.
Finally, and concurrently, I'm working through Lasting Impressions again to produce a 2nd edition.

Inspiration is rare.
The whole put your butt in a chair and write thing is 100% true. I suffer from occasional insomnia, and I treat writing as I treat sleep:
Something I need to do every day.
When I can't sleep, I lie in bed until sleep comes.
When I can't write, I sit in a chair until words come.

I was a late bloomer to Jane Austen. But once I was introduced, I was hooked. A modern version of Pride & Prejudice started as a screenplay, back in my screenwriting days. Then, when I decided to try my hand at novel-writing, it was the obvious choice as the characters and story are so classic and well-loved.
When I started writing the screenplay, in the early 2000s, I was toying with the idea of opening an event planning company - primarily because I was in my early twenties, and I enjoyed a good party. At the same time, I was into the Dallas music scene.
The first time Ellie meets Peter ... when he fixes the amp. That's a true story. There was this rather dashing and grumpy local musician who brought Darcy into the present for me. So, I took him and I spun the character out from there.
