Ken Johnson I like to write about things which interest me. If I am interested then I can take that energy and transfer it to paper where the reader will also be intrigued.

Sometimes it is a need. Other times, it is just a suggestion from a friend or colleague.
Ken Johnson I always have a host of manuscripts in the works. I usually work on them as time allows or as the mood hits me. I have found being a published author takes more away from my forthcoming works than what I originally considered. Most of my time, which I could be writing new books, is spent on the promotion of the book in print.

With that said, I am presently working on a book which incorporates feather painting and Restorative Justice into a fictional story. This will be my next published work. After it, I have a nearly completed book manuscript on the history and traditions of Christmas which I would like to get into print soon. I also have a nearly finished manuscript on the allegory of monster archetypes commonly found in popular movies and literature.

Once these book manuscripts are finished, I want to do an Unbroken Circles for Business manuscript. I also am looking into doing a book on the cultures of America past and present.

Naturally, I am a professional first. This means I don't write full time and so my books are not as frequent as many authors.
Ken Johnson Every time I write something, my words give someone a voice, another person hope, still another inspiration, etc. Words are powerful things. With my words, I have the ability to do great good, teach people I may never meet in real life, uncover issues plaguing millions, and so much more. Few people will ever take pen to paper. Of the ones that do, getting published is a massive hurdle. So, being a published writer is an honor and duty that I holddear. And, having someone tell me "your work has made a profound impact in my life" or "you gave me hope when I had none" only makes me treasure being a writer all that much more.
Ken Johnson I really don't get writer's block. As a nonfiction author, I intimately know my subject matter inside and out. Before I write a single chapter, I already have a detailed outline of what I want to say. So, I don't have a problem in this arena. For any new writer, I would say to (1) intimately know the subject matter you are talking about inside and out (2) make an outline of what you want to say in each chapter and (3) only write when you have something to say. The author is like a vessel. Sometimes we run "dry" and need to be "filled up" so that we can once more "pour out" words onto a blank page.
