Yes, living in Florida, I should know how to spell it. The sequel is in the works and there's a possibility that this time a real "cypress" tree will show up in it, too. Thank you for the positive comments and glad you liked it.

I get to create my own world. I love to think the plot through, chasing down different trails and trying out different scenarios. I plan it from the top down, getting more detail at each level of planning. But the best part is that once I start the real writing, the sentences and paragraphs and chapters, I'm there with my hero and the characters around him. I feel that I'm right there in the scene, watching and responding as if it is real. That's fun!

Never give up. When I didn't win a "new author" competition, which I truly expected to win for my first book, I wallowed in it for a while and then got to work looking for an agent. Spent a year with no results and then spent another year querying publishers. One day a great publisher responded that my novel was something they could sell.

My first novel, Defenseless, left some major unresolved questions. I'm working on the sequel, Merciless, which will pick up the story and the main character, who will relentlessly chase any lead to resolve the biggest questions remaining.

Our house has been broken into four times in less than six years, and each time, it has been when no one is at home.
