My TBR grows ever higher. To name a few, in fiction: Lisa Ko's The Leavers, Elizabeth's Anything is Possible, and Jaq Hazell's My Life as a Bench; in non-Fiction: David Halberstam's The Best and The Brightest, and Tom Ricks' Churchill and Orwell. How about you?

It's impossible for me to pick just one. The first that comes to mind is Newland Archer and Ellen Olenska from Wharton's Age of Innocence. Pure passion. And, despite the betrayal, integrity. The next, Roland and Maud from Byatt's Possession. And then, the love triangle -- do triangles count? -- in Sandor Marai's Embers.

Read, read, read. But also read as a writer, seeing HOW writers you like accomplish what they do. And practice, daily, if at all possible. Even if you aren't working on a particular project, write something, describe something, put something you see or feel or hear into words.
