'Hell in The Heartland' wasn't an idea I made up. It's an honest-to-God true and tragic story out of northeastern Oklahoma. Truth be told, I don't have that great of an answer as to why I chose this story out of many, but I am glad I did.

Well, I think I'm going to keep the cards close to my chest. Indeed, I'm working away, but we shall see! It may be true crime, it may be fiction.

(view spoiler)[Ronnie James Busick denies the death of Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman of Oklahoma. While watching your series the prolific serial killer Joseph Edward Duncan II came to my mind. I believe you will find the true killer of these missing girls. Joseph Edward Duncan II fits the profile. Have you ever considered that Ronnie James Busick may be innocent? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Great question! After years of research, I do believe that Ronnie Dean (not James) Busick did have something to do with the Freeman/Bible murders. Joseph Edward Duncan II was incarcerated at the time of the killings, so it couldn't have been him. Thanks for submitting the question, though! (hide spoiler)]

It's funny, the ending is always the very first thing I write so I know better how to steer the book. I replay it in my head over and over until I can think of other ideas to surround the last scene, and then I start writing. I also do the prologue last. :)

Write from that little voice in the back of your head that hides in the shadows. Scare yourself. Don't listen too much to the advice of authors. You have to find your own way. When you find yourself singing on the mountaintops with an epiphany, you've found your way. Hang on to it.

Absolute freedom. The guards come down, the masks are off. I'm free when I'm writing. For me, it's a feeling very similar to falling in love.

Music. I cannot write without music blasting. It must be a song that moves me to write, or one pertinent to a scene. I've said it before, I think I spend more time trying to find the right music than I actually do writing.
