As odd as it may seem at first...Duckburg. It's far safer than Ankh-Morpork or Lankhmar (never mind Westeros), it has all the comforts of home, and with any luck I'll get swept up in one of Uncle Scrooge's treasure hunts!

What? No! I like penguins! Penguins are not food; they're cute.
That said: Many years ago, a Canadian friend sent me some British Penguin biscuits. They were melted, so I stored them in my refrigerator before I ate them. (They were chocolatey and quite good.) She was soon telling our friends that I kept penguins in my fridge and ate them. :O

I think you mean, penguin-shaped ice cream tastes like vanilla and chocolate. Penguins probably taste like...well, like penguin. :D

I'm not mad, as long as no actual penguins were harmed in the making of the ice cream. :D Now I'm wondering what flavor it was...

It's actually not hard for me to get inspired, since I enjoy the art of storytelling so much. Usually, I just need to get my tablet turned on and settle in. Music helps too.

Different things work for different people, but for me:
I will just plow ahead as best as I can, get it down and edit it later.
Sometimes I'll just set it aside and work on a different book.
And in a couple of cases, I jump ahead to the next scene and return the one that's blocking me later.
Again, none of these may work for you, though I hope they do if you try them!

Looks like I need to update this! January 2016: I'm working on two first drafts - the sixth Monkey Queen book (The Crown Of Kylthena), and a top-secret project. I'm also polishing a short story that'll be put online late this month.

For me, it's the rush when a story comes together and jumps from my head through my fingers to the screen. Nothing like it.

Most people would give more metaphysical advice, and that is useful and inspirational in its own right, but I'm going to be more practical with my two tips.
First, get things in writing. Protect yourself; there are some bad apples out there. I respect and trust Willow, who did the cover art for this book, but we still signed a contract. Play it safe.
Two, back up your files. Trust me. When that half-caf soy mocha frappe gets spilled on your laptop, or your desktop heads to Topeka when the rest of your possessions are being moved to Walla Walla, or the Mongol zombies destroy Google's cloud servers, you'll still be able to access your work. Back up early and often, and you won't regret it.
