Read often. Write often. Tell people you're going to finish so that you have to actually finish. Try not to crack your knuckles.

People. Absolutely People. I write about people first and fantasy second. I see people around me everywhere I go and my brain fills in the details of their lives in my imagination like the autofill function of a cell phone's keyboard. I benefit so much from watching people, meeting people, and interacting with people.

A few favorite things.
1) I really appreciate the process of writing because it allows me to sort, organize, and document all the crazy random garbage that's always whizzing through my brain at what feels like a million miles per hour.
2) I love being able to reach people. To create shared emotional experiences with the readers.

The Dreams and the Darkness started as little stories that I would give to my girlfriend at the time on special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc.). The relationship ended quite amicably and she encouraged me to do something with those little stories... so I started putting them together to create the world of Allyoshmar.

I'm currently working on a new novel that's related to the events in The Dreams and the Darkness, but isn't part of the Legends of Allyoshmar series.

I think the hardest part of writers block is remaining at your desk. If you can keep yourself at your desk, staring at that screen, disconnected from distractions, then it's only a matter of time before the writer's block works itself out.
