(view spoiler)[Lyra and Will from Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series. I'll never be able to forget them, and yes, I have tried. They were my first experience with a romance across two different worlds, which I thought was the coolest, craziest, best thing I'd ever heard of, and not just in books. I almost feel like I had a relationship with their relationship. Like, they were my first real book love, and first heartbreak. I don't know if I could really even call them my "favorite" couple as much as the most unforgettable. I knew of only two ways you could lose someone: either you break up, or one of you dies. Nope! Separated across worlds, for the rest of your lives! It just hit me in a totally different place, and I'm still hurting from this even all these years later! Will they EVER see each other again? Or are they just going to keep meeting in that park they both have in their world, knowing the other is there just beyond reach? Like, I just CAN'T with this! THIS is how you know you love a book, when you can't form regular words when discussing it. No other couple has ever made a bigger emotional impact on me, so I can't think of anyone else to list, even though I'm sure I have another favorite couple who gets to be a couple for longer. One of my favorite writing quotes is “a professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit.” You have to be persistent and patient. Writing is something you're only going to get better at if you keep at it. There's no age limit on it, and if you're persistent, who knows where it'll take you?
This is something no one can take away from you. Never forget the joy and magic of creating, even if no one ever sees your work, you just made something that never existed before.

Creating my own world. I'm never alone, and I'll always have a home to go to no matter where I am. There is such incredible joy in building your world, and watching it grow. That's real magic.

By refusing to believe in it. Calling it "writer's block" makes it sound like some unshakable condition, almost like a disease. "I have writer's block," sounds much more serious than "I'm a little unfocused." If I'm feeling unfocused, I can get up and shake it off. I'll dance around to a song or two, do a little cleaning, take a breath of fresh air, and when I'm ready, come back with a clear head and write.

Right now I'm working on the sequel to The Mansion's Twins. The next book in the Crossworlds series is The Mansion's Family, and it will be released June 21st.
