I.D. Johnson Kelpie Dreams by Steve Vernon is what I am reading right now. I am hoping BJ Leonard publishes the next book in The Defiled series because I need to find out what happens next. I also have a lot of Kindle Scout books to catch up on!
I.D. Johnson Usually something as simple as where did I put my glasses! I don't write a lot of mystery novels, but the one I just finished is suspense, which is pretty close, I suppose. You can check it out on Kindle Scout here:https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/OT9F...
I.D. Johnson This is a difficult question because I have so many, but probably Tristan and Isolde. Their tragic love story really puts life into perspective. There are so many other outside forces pulling at them--honor, integrity, friendship, family, and it's hard to imagine what one might do if placed in a similar circumstance. We always say that true love can defy all odds--but can it really?
I.D. Johnson I write something else. If I don't have the energy to write a particular scene or to work on a particular novel, I write about something else. I put a funny post on Facebook or I work on my blog. I write about what I know--what my children are doing, what I had for lunch, whatever it takes to get the words flowing.
I.D. Johnson The best thing about being a writer is giving life to the characters in your work. It's a bit like playing God. They live and breathe because we tell them they can. Writers are masters of their own universes. And sometimes those universes are extraordinary--sometimes they are dark and twisted. Either way, the author holds all of the power.
I.D. Johnson Write. Just do it. Write whatever you have energy to write, keep writing, write every second you have the opportunity to do so. If you don't tell your stories, no one will so get it out there.
I.D. Johnson Lots of things inspire me to write but I would say the two that have given me the most ideas are 1) my dreams and 2) works by other authors. Sometimes I read a book and that gives me an idea for something related--same era, same concept, etc. But I always take it another direction. One of the novels I have been working on for years was inspired by Cold Mountain. My book, Cordia's Will will be out in October.
I.D. Johnson I am currently working on revising my submission from the 3 Day Novel Writing Contest, The Clandestine Ternion, Book 1: The Transformation
It is a fantasy book about Vampires, Hunters, and Guardians. Of course, it has an element of a love story as well.
I.D. Johnson I got the idea for Deck of Cards from a dream that I had about a princess who was being forced to marry someone she didn't love.
