Koji Steven Sakai What happened to my grandfather during World War II? So my grandfather (an American citizen) worked for the Japanese government in Honolulu right before Pearl Harbor.
Koji Steven Sakai Good question. My favorite fictional couple is Romeo & Juliet. Why? Because I've been obsessed with them since I first read the play in 6th grade. And as I've grown, my perspective about their relationship has changed so much. I wonder what I will think of them when I'm an old man.
Koji Steven Sakai I think writer's block is something only novice writers get. A professional writer finds ways to become inspired every time they sit in front of their computer or pick up their pen. As a writer, you can't wait for inspiration because frankly it may never come!
Koji Steven Sakai Now that I'm a father, I see everything I write as a letter to my son when he grows up. To get to now me in ways that I could never get to know the inner working of my own father's mind.
Koji Steven Sakai Keep writing. Lots of people say they are writers and never actually write. To be considered a writer, you have to write. Seems obvious, but apparently it's not.
Koji Steven Sakai I'm currently working on a few film and television projects, and hopefully another novel!
Koji Steven Sakai This sounds so cliche, but it's true. I was born to write. When I don't write in a day, I'm cranky.
Koji Steven Sakai First. I’ve been obsessed with Romeo and Juliet ever since I read it back in the eighth grade. I’ve written three screenplays taking on the story. Each was done in a different way and from a different perspective. And then there’s my love for all things zombies—Zombie books; Zombie movies; and Zombie TV shows. I heart zombies. If I wasn’t a living breathing human, I think I would be a zombie. Romeo & Juliet Vs. Zombies came out of those two loves.
