Hi Melanie! I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying the series. I agree--Sebastian was one of my favorite characters to write from a psychological perspective. There was a lot going on with him, and he was loosely inspired by a client I had in group therapy many years ago. I don't have any plans to give him his own story right now, but you never know...Some characters just have a way of demanding to be heard from again!

The absolute best thing about being a writer is the moment when you realize that something you have written has resonated with a reader, that you have created with words the exact feeling or image or moment that you intended. That is pretty amazing!

My real job always inspires my writing. As a psychologist, I meet a lot of people--not in the "hi, how are you?" kind of way--more like, tell me the deepest, darkest things about yourself. I've learned that everybody has secrets; everybody has a past. Some struggle to get over it; some learn from it; some are changed by it; some are haunted. It was that idea, what we do with our pasts, that inspired Legacy.

Observe the world around you- take notice of the things that others overlook.
Read voraciously.
Write something everyday.
And the scariest part- share your work with others, accept criticism, and develop a thick skin. Still working on that one!

“People say, ‘What advice do you have for people who want to be writers?’ I say, they don’t really need advice, they know they want to be writers, and they’re gonna do it. Those people who know that they really want to do this and are cut out for it, they know it.”

I've just completed another book in my Doctors of Darkness series of psychological thrillers, titled The First Cut. It's set to be released in January 2019 and will be the third book in the Doctors of Darkness series of psychological thrillers, each of which features a--shall we say, troubled--doctor.
