Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person in the world who ever read Rilla of Ingleside, the eighth and final book in L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables series. Rilla was Anne's youngest daughter, and what a character! She's cute, bubbly, self-absorbed, the chubby-cheeked baby of the family... And then, in Rilla of Ingleside, set during WWI, she grows up quickly because she has to. I loved that whole series, and loved Rilla's story the most. In fact, I think that book—and rereading it probably 20 times as a kid—had a lot to do with my going on to become a romance novelist. Anyway, the love story of Rilla Blythe and Kenneth Ford lives in my mind and heart as one of my favorite love stories of all time. You should read the book (and the whole series), if you haven't yet!
