Prove with test readers that there is interest in what you write. These test readers should be people that you don't know. You can be passionate about a topic, that does not mean the general public will buy it.

It is just relaxing for me to sit at my dining room table with the fire in the wood cook stove crackling on a cold Minnesota night. I can create on paper just about anything that I would like.

I go back several paragraphs and read what I just wrote. Then I walk away that day and think of what needs to happen in the end of the book. For me walking away for an evening allows me to come up with something that will flow.
