Rachel Elisabeth Judd For a professional writer, 'getting inspired' isn't really an option. There's work that needs to be done. Writing only when it's fun won't get you very far.
Rachel Elisabeth Judd I've been working on this book, in one form or another, since about 2006. I've always liked vampires, and I've always liked stories which deal with the relationships between women. I wanted to write an urban fantasy/vampire novel which went against a lot of the current conventions. There are no sparkly vampires in my work!
Rachel Elisabeth Judd Just get the words on paper. It's okay if you think they suck. That's what editing is for. Also, if you can, join a writing group which meets regularly. Needing to have something for every meeting will help keep you on task, and you'll probably get some great feedback!
Rachel Elisabeth Judd Physical activity! I usually find the answer to a problem while going on a run. I have to be zen about, though - I can't think about the problem itself. I just let my mind wander, and eventually I'll figure out what to do.
