Robert Frecer
My book came about as an amalgam of my master's thesis and later my PhD dissertation at Charles University in Prague. I wanted to work with archaeological material rather than discuss theory, and since half of the material was unpublished I was nudged to publish it myself. I applied for and received two academic grants that covered print and editorial costs - and not much else.
