Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

J.G. Sandom My most recent novel out now is 404. I have been working on this for some years now and was first stimulated to write it as I founded the first digital ad agency in the business back in 1984 and I've been greatly alarmed by the way in which data companies profile us and segment us for marketing offers. The rise of Google and the vast amount of data which that company tracks was also a factor. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, it was the increase in cyber-terrorism I was seeing and our government's response to it that really put me over the edge. The book was completed before the Ed Snowden revelations but I could see them coming and wanted to do something to alert the American public about the erosion of our 4th Amendment rights.
