C.K. Thomas Karen Blixen and Denys Hatton from the book/movie Out of Africa are real people, but the first couple that came to my mind. The book is written by Karen Blixen using the pen name Isak Dinesen. Even though they are not fictional characters, it's easy to get lost in the story as if it were a novel that Blixen weaves about her experiences in Africa as a young woman. It reads more like historical fiction than autobiography. The movie furthers the feeling of fiction in its adaptation as a screenplay.

In the Arrowstar Series I wrote, my favorite couple in third book, The Storm Women would have to be Margaretta and her Civil War soldier husband, Jacob. Their love seems more genuine than any of the other couples in that novel.
C.K. Thomas My lifelong dream has always been to be a writer of novels. I enjoy the research involved in putting a book together, and I enjoy the relationship I build with my characters who seem to come alive as I write. It's thrilling to see all four of my books in paperback and sitting alongside my favorite author's books on my bookshelf. I can't tell you how gratifying a feeling that gives me. Best of all is hearing from readers and knowing I've given them some enjoyment through what I've written. I hope I hear from you!
C.K. Thomas My inspiration for the Arrowstar series comes from traveling extensively around the state of Arizona. My husband rides and restores motorcycles, and riding the pillion seat on a motorcycle gives me lots of time to think! I get to look at the mountains rising up in front of us, at the clear blue Arizona sky, and the blooming desert cactus while he's handling the bike. The rush of speeding along on a twisty Arizona road clears my mind and spurs my imagination. We've walked through many pioneer cemeteries, and I've often wondered about the people buried there beneath tombstones chiseled with heartfelt inscriptions. My characters for the Arrowstar companion novels resurrect these characters from Mineral City's past and make their stories come alive again for a time if only on the pages of a book. It's an adventure researching these bygone days!
C.K. Thomas I'm writing the companion book to Arrowstar. It will expand on the life and times of Bobby Flint, the train robber and current citizen of Mineral City's cemetery. Readers will also find out more about Patsy Rodriguez, Bobby's love interest, and his daughter, Katherine Lorraine Flint, and granddaughter, Katherine (Kat) Abbi. It will probably be about a 60,000- word novel if the length of the companion book to Charade is any indication. I'm busy right now expanding these characters' profiles. I'm glad you asked!
C.K. Thomas Walking among tombstones near a place known as Dos Cabezas where family plots are enclosed in black iron fences, set my mind on the track that led to the creation of Charade and gave me the idea for my latest novel, a companion book to Charade (The Storm Women). The Storm Women covers in more detail the lives of the women buried in the Storm Family plot, and takes readers on a journey that begins in 1879.
