I just pretend it doesn't exist and move to a different project. I usually have about three or four different projects going at a time and I find that blocks are fairly isolated to just one of them. Moving to a different project--whether that be a comic script or a screenplay or even another book idea--I find that the ideas start flowing again and in no time at all I can revisit the project I got stuck on with a fresh perspective.

Study the craft of storytelling--not just in books, but in movies, tv shows, comics. Study it all. You'll learn so much more than focusing on books exclusively and you'll be ahead of the pack by a mile. A lot of people can write beautiful prose, but far fewer people can tell a good story. Know the difference and be better!

Paper Bag Mask is actually based on a true story, believe it or not. None of the characters are based on real people, but when I was in high school a group of friends and I really did steal the very real Whomper from our teacher and then held it for ransom, complete with videos.
