I have bought Julia Cameron's book - The Writer's Way. It is excellent and every chapter provides ideas. I go to the library and get out a creative writing book. I read. Once I start to read a good book I begin to see how the writer has crafted it and get stimulated. I write down good words and phrases and find a way to use them in my own work. I am always learning.

I can lose my myself when I am writing. I am always using incidents and experiences. I can make things happen in my books. I can write about something that was difficult and make it funny. This helps me cope with life's problems.

Just get writing. Start with a diary and spice it up. Set up a blog and write about your life or interests. Join a Writing Group. Go to writer events. My favourite is Winchester Writers' Festival held each June.

Sharing the Silence is a novel about a child growing up with her deaf sister. It is partly autobiographical but I have used more characters and my imagination to show how different life is in a family with a deaf child. It is nearly finished but needs a lot of editing. I hope to get it out in early 2015.

A simple chance remark or watching children at play. I get ideas in new environments such as on holiday. I like to make people laugh.

When my first grandchild was born I began writing poetry. I had already written a few poems about my friend and I who did not want to become grandparents and how she changed when she did. I entered poems in anthologies and competitions. In 2012 I realised I had 50 plus poems on the computer and wanted to share them. This is the result.
