I'm currently collaborating on a project called Hadoop Fundamentals for Data Scientists. This will be an O'Reilly video teaching Hadoop and distributed computing across large data sets to a non-developer, non-operations audience.

Data science requires creative scientific thinking and the best way to get into the mode of this thinking is to collaborate with others. I go to talks given by other data scientists to learn and be inspired by the tools and techniques that they are using - I watch videos and read other's articles and papers. You will quickly get new ideas going about it this way and will be ready and able to dive back into your own work!
Also, I code - I love to write code and I'm not so much a fan of writing. If I can find a way to start writing code and digging into data, that will give me something to write about and jump start the entire process!
