Jennifer St. Giles I recently wrote a short story for my Exposed Series. It will come out in Asylum Archives Vol. 2. The first novel in the series came out last year. Kaylee's Justice. I came up for paranormal siblings who use their gifts to fight crime a number of years ago (about 13 years), but my New York publisher wasn't interested in the idea. My heroine, a True Crime writers uses her empathic abilities to write her books and expose killers.
The idea for the short story titled The Dead Rise came when I heard about 7000 unmarked graves discovered on the grounds of a college that used to be a mental asylum. I couldn't resist! Ideas kidnap me and wont let me go until I pay the ransom in a story.
Jennifer St. Giles I have always loved story and grew up reading every book I could, especially romance with mystery and suspense. The need to write the stories in my heart became an overwhelming desire. I have to write and create. It is an insane choice to make, because life would be so much simpler without my compelling drive to create, but then I would be so much less of who I am then.
As for what inspires me on a daily basis? EVERYTHING. I read a news article, see a situation, hear a song and I see the beginning of what could be a great story or at least a fun one.
Jennifer St. Giles I have a problem of multi-tasking. I am working on Bewitching the Wolf Book 5 in the Shadowmen Series. I have a novella going for my Silent Warrior Series, What didn't happen in Vegas. And I am redoing my time travel that won the 2002 Golden Heart, A Rose from the Grave.
Jennifer St. Giles Never Never Never give up on your dreams! And as Stephanie Bond once told me... Be the last man standing!
Jennifer St. Giles Creating story that captures my imagination and emotions as well as my readers and shares the healing power of love.
Jennifer St. Giles By being stubborn or doing something relaxing. If I keep writing something, even if I am sure it's not the right direction I want the story to go, I eventually come up with the right answer by eliminating what doesn't work for the story. You can't fix what's wrong if you have a blank page. Also, I find if I go and do something to take the edge off my stress like a hot shower, talk the book over with a close friend, or go see a good movie, the writer's block disappears.
